When missing teeth are not replaced, the remaining teeth begin to drift and make chewing and cleaning difficult. There are several ways to replace missing teeth depending on the condition and position of the remaining teeth, personal preference, and general physical health.
To replace a missing tooth with a fixed bridge, crowns are made for the teeth on both sides of the empty space, and an artificial tooth attached to them. The one piece bridge (crowns with artificial tooth) is then cemented into place and cannot be removed by the patient.
If we determine that a dental implant, which is a surgical procedure, presents a better option for you, a specialist will place the implant. When the implant is completed and healed, you return to us for the final restoration.
Dentures are artificial teeth and gums made of plastic that replace all of the upper or lower teeth. They are fully removable and require careful cleaning and maintenance. To fit the gums properly, dentures need to be made well. Several appointments are needed before you can be fitted with the final denture. After the final fitting, you will still need to see us regularly to make sure that the prosthesis continues to fit your mouth comfortably.
Partial dentures are also artificial teeth and gums that replace lost teeth. Unlike dental implants and bridges and crowns, partial dentures are removable and require the same care and maintenance as other removable prostheses such as full dentures.
